When I was originally told this would be like Carl Hiassen without the enviromental aspect, I was skeptical. I'm a big Hiassen fan, so I went into this trying to compare every sentence. To me, it wasn't anything like Hiassen. Setting that aside, I will say I did enjoy this book. The characters have flaws, but not to the extend of Hiassen's. These flaws are more lifelike and easy to relate to. The story is original, and well put together. I could easily see this as a movie. For me, it read more like Elmore Leonard but not quite as bloody and edgy. I'll definitely read Bill's other book, and hope to see more in the future.
